Review of Easter Holidays

In the easter holidays i wrote a plan on the monday of what u i was going to study. i felt having it on paper was the best idea. it worked really well on the monday tuesday and wednesday. i didn't do much on the thursday or friday but studied a little on the sunday. the second week i did not do much studying at all. everything distracted me in the second week but hey everyone is entitled to a break. i did little bits of studying but nothing worth writing about.

today

today i watched and took notes on enemies of reason which we have to do for our communications class. i took good sdetailed notes and used the time well. i did not anticipate how long the video was so i did not get a chance to start writing the questions

Effective Revision!

My revision recently has been much better. i have started studying with a partner and i feel this works wonders. i am less likely to not revise when i have agreed to study with someone. in a class i can just stay quiet but when its one on one i would just look stupid. i also think its less intimidating than speaking in front of the class. i always study in different places which i find helps so i dont become bored with the same place all the time. i find that writing things over and over helps me. it may seem boring but i dont mind it once i get started. i need to start revising things more than once which is something i do not always do. i think this would help me get a much better vocabulary which is my weak point.

Review and week plan.

last week my studying went a little better than normal. saturday and sunday did not go so well but the other days i felt i acheived what i set out to do. on saturday and sunday i did not do the things i planned as i had work from morning untill night on saturday then went out. and on sunday i should have used the day more wisely knowing i had plans at night. i think when doing my week plan i always forget about social time and forget to plan the studying around this.

Thoughts on my presentation.

My thoughts on my presentation are firstly i had each body of text needing a click of the mouse to appear i did not anticipate that the laptop would be so far away. i felt i read too much off the screen as well, the information was already on the screen so there was no need for me. i thought the presentation was good but i did not make enough eye contact and looked at the screen unnecessarily. i did not feel that nervous and think it would have been more interesting if the subject didnt bore me.

28 January 2008 - study plan and self review

Last week was not a successfully week for studying. i started the week well. but when Wednesday came i stopped studying. i did a good amount of work on my history essay on Thursday afternoon. i became hungry so went home to eat and promises to myself that i would resume after i had eaten were not fulfilled. i worked on Friday after college then, stupidly, went out and then went out on the Saturday again. i was too tired on the Sunday to do anything. bad week for studying. this week i am going to the library today (Wednesday) because i usually fall of the rails on a Wednesday and the trend continues throughout the week. i find on days i am usually distracted i should go to the library because once actually there i work well.

We were given a task on reading last night. i unfortunately due to going to the gym and having a Russian lesson did not have time to do it for a Spanish piece. i did however do it for an article i read in national geographic on the mummies of Sicily. i did not have any previous knowledge of the subject so my main purpose was to learn anything new. i didn't survey skim as there was nothing specific i was looking for. my question i set myself before reading was what will i learn here. due to time restrictions i did not finish the article. but reviewing the piece afterwards i felt helped because it made me commit to memory things i had read. i learned that Palermo airport (Falcone-Borselli) was named after two judges who were killed after trying to convict members of the mafia. in Palermo the people do not talk to strangers about the mafia because it embarrasses their families. i also learned that mummies in Palermo and across Sicily are not mummified by any substance they are mummified by the atmospheres they are kept in. (cool, dark - limestone walls etc). i think reflecting after reading was a good tip to take from this. i think if i take notes after reading (or possibly during although i find that very difficult) it will help commit things to memory better.
